Week of October 2, 2023
Below is the 40 Thorndike Project Construction Update for the week of October 2nd. Activities will take place on Saturdays starting at 9:00 AM.
Please note: Updates to last week’s content and / or impactful activities are bolded. Timing of work might fluctuate by a week or so, to accommodate in flux site logistics or make use of opportunity to shorten durations.

Interior Work:
- Elevator installation is underway.
- Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) activities taking place in the mechanical penthouse.
- Bathroom finishes and fixture continues to be installed.
- Waterproofing activities continues in the lower levels.
- Drywall work in the tower core is ongoing.
- Drywall work in the podium residential units has started.
Exterior Work:
- Please note, activity will be taking place at all site gates periodically throughout the project. Location of work areas are subject to change.
- The four (4) cranes currently on site will be removed from the site by the end of the day on Saturday, September 30th.
- Curbing work is ongoing on Thorndike and Second Streets, and preparation work, saw cutting street and sidewalk demolition will take place on Spring Street.
- The hoist will be removed the week of October 9th.
- Ductbank work is underway on Second Street.
- Podium curtain wall erection is underway on the North and South horseshoe.
- Level 1 storefront installation is underway on Third and Thorndike Streets.
- Sidewalk installation is ongoing on Thorndike.
- Installation of sunshades continues on L21.
- Areas on the podium will be tarped while crews complete necessary construction prior to placing panels.
- The fence line on Spring Street has been reconfigured into the street, taking one side of street parking offline. This new reconfiguration is currently expected to be in place through in April 2024.
- Terracotta is being installed on the North and South elevations. The east elevation curtain wall is complete, and the mast climbers are being disassembled. Curtain wall panels on the west and south elevation hoist sections, along with the tower crane leave out, will follow in coming weeks.
- Roofing activities on Level 21, as well as parapet and high roofs, is underway.
- Parapet roofing and finishes is ongoing.
- The loading dock will be relocated to Second Street in early October.
- Grind and overlay paving operations are currently scheduled for late October / Early November. This date is subject to change.
- Trucks exiting the site continue to use Second Street to Thorndike Street to minimize traffic through the neighborhood.
- Security cameras have been installed on site. Please rest assured that camera video footage will only cover areas within the property line. Security system audio concerns has been addressed.

- Construction updates will be sent out regularly, so you can reliably anticipate upcoming site activities.
- We have formed a Construction Advisory Committee made up of abutters and a member of the local small business community. Project Construction Update Meetings will be virtually held on the 1st Wednesday monthly and be open to the public. The next meeting is scheduled for October 4th at 6:00 PM.
